In line with the decisions of the 8th Summit of the OTS held on 12 November 2021 in Istanbul, cooperation in the field of space was launched.

Up to date, two Meetings at the level of Heads of Space Agencies and four Working Group Meetings were held. The most important projects in the upcoming period in the field of space are as follows:

-    Designing, manufacturing and launching a joint cube satellite between the Member and Observer States
-    Promoting capacity building and experience sharing programs
-    Joint usage of satellite data from the sources of the Member and Observer States
-    Experience sharing in various applications such as water management, natural disasters monitoring, ecology, agriculture and others
-    Studying the matter of space standards development

First Meeting among the Space Agencies and Relevant Authorities of the OTS was convened on 20 December 2021 in Baku. At the meeting, Parties made presentations regarding their activities and prospective projects in the field of space as well as cooperation opportunities under the roof of the OTS. During the meeting, Parties underlined the importance of increasing cooperation in the field of space and agreed to establish working groups in “spacecraft and infrastructure development projects and programs” and “education and space awareness programs”. Parties further agreed to work on joint-usage of satellite data from the resources of Member States’; sharing the expertise in various applications, such as water management, natural disasters monitoring, ecology, agriculture and others; designing, manufacturing and launching a joint satellite by the Member States; studying the matter of space standards development in order to coordinate future cooperation; as well as promoting capacity building and experience sharing programs in Aero-Space Research and Development Activities. At the end of the meeting, Parties signed the agreed points and joint project proposals to be realized in the upcoming period.

Second Meeting among the Space Agencies and Relevant Authorities of the OTSwas convened on 25 April 2023 in Tashkent. At the meeting, Parties underlined the importance of increasing cooperation in the field of space and sharing experience among the experts in this field. Parties agreed to work on developing joint cube satellite project which will be realized with the earth observation mission and provided information on their national space policies and agreed to establish cooperation among the universities and space centers to conduct scientific studies.

Lately, Turkic Space Explorers Academy of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) organized on 27 August-2 September 2023 at GUHEM (Gokmen Space and Aviation Training Center) in Bursa. The program which was hosted by the Turkish Space Agency aims to raise awareness among the Turkic youth in the field of space and pave the way to raise space leaders of the future as well as to empower solidarity and friendship between the participants. More than 80 students from the Member and Observer States who are participated in the Academy received training in different subjects such as observational astronomy, rocket and space science, astrophysics, solar system and others. The program bears the importance of being the first training program in the field of space organized within the umbrella of the OTS.
