10th Turkic Council Working Group Meeting on Customs Cooperation was held on 12 December 2018 in Astana.
10th Meeting of the Turkic Council Working Group on Customs Cooperation was hosted by the State Revenues Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan on 12 December 2018 in Astana with the participation of senior customs officials of the Member States.

The meeting was moderated by Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council, Dr. Ömer Kocaman.

The Working Group exchanged views on further steps to be taken in the framework of the Silk Road – Caravanserai Project and agreed in that regard to organize new field visits to certain border crossing points. New mechanisms for simplification of export/import procedures, Public-Private partnership, new experience sharing programs in the field of risk management, fight against illicit trafficking, e-commerce, Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) were among other important topics discussed during the meeting.

The Parties finalized the Memorandum of Understanding among the Customs Administrations of the Member States of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States planned to be signed at the next meeting of Heads of Customs Administrations, which will be held in Kazakhstan in 2019.

The Working Group emphasized the value of new aspects of modernizing transit systems, particularly implementation of electronic TIR system (so called “e-TIR”) under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) by the Member States and agreed to make joint efforts for the materialization of various projects in this area.

Deputy Secretary General Dr.Ömer Kocaman was accompanied by Project Directors Ozge Pan and Farrukh Jumayev during the 10th Working Group meeting on customs cooperation.
