The 3rd Meeting of the Ministers of Health of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in the margins of the 2nd Turkic Medical World Congress took place on 16 August 2023 in Samarkand.
The meeting was hosted by Dr Amrillo Inoyatov, Minister of Health of Republic of Uzbekistan and attended by H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the OTS, Dr Teymur Musayev, Minister of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Dr Azhar Giniyat, Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Dr Tilek Mamadaliev, Deputy Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, Dr Fahrettin Koca, Minister of Health of the Republic of Türkiye and Mr. Erkin Turdimov, Akim of the Samarkand.
Having noted that the goal of the platform for cooperation in the field health under the OTS is reflected not only in the OTS Summit Declarations, but also in the “Turkic World Vision 2040” and “OTS Strategy for 2022-2026”, Ambassador Omuraliev stressed that the Turkic States have a big potential in the field of health and that the fraternal countries’ main objective is to strengthen the joint efforts for development of the effective healthcare system for the people of the Turkic States in facing the common challenges.
In this vein, Secretary General emphasized the importance of tasks included to the Joint Declaration of the 3rd Meeting of Health Ministers and establishment of the OTS Working Group on Health Cooperation that will work on implementation of this document.
During their speeches the Ministers shared views on the future collaboration in the development of healthcare system within Turkic region and expressed their positions on the Joint Declaration.
They underlined importance of establishment of a joint R&D Group in the field of health, especially vaccines, drugs and medical devices, as well as mechanisms for their mutual recognition among the OTS Member States and Observers, mutual recognition of diplomas as well as certificates for medical products among the Member States, promotion of medical tourism, activation of the Supply Chain Group, establishment of a “Joint Emergency Disaster Response Team” and etc.
At the end of the meeting the Ministers signed Joint Declaration of the 3rd Meeting of Ministers of Health of the OTS.
