Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ambassador Ramil Hasanov participated in the opening ceremony of the Business Forum entitled ‘Turkic Council & World Telecommunication and Information Society Day’ hosted by the Ministry of Transport, Maritime and Communications of the Republic of Turkey on 17 May 2017 in Istanbul.
 
Delegations from the Member States as well as representatives of companies responsible for ICT participated at the event. During the opening ceremony, Undersecretary of Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication of the Republic of Turkey Suat Hayri Aka, President of Information Technologies Institute Ömer Fatih Sayan, Director General of Communications of the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Ensar Kılıç and the Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ambassador Ramil Hasanov addressed to the participants on the occasion of Turkic Council & World Telecommunications Day.
 
In his speech he emphasized the importance of ICT in everyday life. He explained that ICT is powerful tool for economic growth and poverty eradication, which facilitates integration of many countries into global market. For that reason Turkic Council acts as a great platform for realization of short and long term goals, as well as initiatives for concrete programs that will make the difference on the ground.
 
During the opening, the congratulatory telegrams sent by the Prime Minister of Turkey, Binali Yıldırım and some other invited guests, who were unable to attend the meeting due to their intensive programs, were also read.
 
Deputy Secretary General Dr. Ömer Kocaman, Project Directors Ali Civiler, Farid Damirli and Yedil Mirzakhanov as well as Chief of Protocol Emre Yurdakul also participated in the opening ceremony.
