Ambassador Ramil Hasanov, Secretary General of the Turkic Council who is paying an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, visited Elmar Mammadyarov Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 9 February 2017 in his office.

During the meeting, Secretary General Hasanov informed Foreign Minister Mammadyarov about the status of Turkic Council projects as end of 2016 and the activities planned for the year 2017. Secretary General Hasanov continued by giving information about the works carried out by the Turkic Council on the youth and sports in cooperation with the International Center for Sports Security (ICSS), about the continuing preparations of the 6th Summit of Heads of States of the Turkic Council which will be organized this year as well as ongoing issues concerning obtaining observer status at the United Nations.

Secretary General Hasanov also personally invited Foreign Minister Mammadyarov to the International Conference on “Khojaly Genocide, Crimes Against Humanity and Terrorism" to be organized on 22 February 2017 in cooperation with Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Turkish-Kazakh University.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov, thanked to the Secretary General Hasanov for the detailed information he provided and expressed his satisfaction with his visit. Minister of Foreign Affairs Mammadyarov emphasized that they closely follow the work of the Turkic Council, expressed their satisfaction with the level it has reached and underlined that as the Republic of Azerbaijan they will continue to support the Turkic Council in all of its activities as it has been since its establishment.

Emphasizing the importance of the event, Foreign Minister Mammadyarov stated that he will be attending the International Conference on “Khojaly Genocide, Crimes Against Humanity and Terrorism" to be held in Ankara on February 22, 2017.
