Ambassador Ramil Hasanov, the Secretary General of the Turkic Council, was received by the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, concurrently the Chairman-in-Office of the Turkic Council, at the Presidential Palace.
At the meeting, the Secretary General informed the President about the activities of the Turkic Council. The Secretary General further noted that other than the Presidents of the Turkic Council Member States, Presidents of some other countries are expected to participate in the Fifth Summit of the Turkic Council, which is planned to take place in Astana this year, the capital of Kazakhstan. Ambassador Hasanov underscored that as the upcoming Summit will be the first Summit to be attended by His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, His participation in his capacity as the Chairman-in-Office of the Turkic Council at the Summit will be highly significant.
The Secretary General Hasanov also gave information about Turkic Council’s cooperation with other international organizations such as the United Nations (UN) and the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC), and about the established Regional Diaspora Centers aimed at promoting coordination among the Diasporas of the Member States. During the meeting the parties have exchanged ideas about the other concrete cooperation areas conducted by the Turkic Council such as among others transport, customs, education, youth and sports.
Congratulating the Secretary General Hasanov on his assumption of his duties as the Secretary General of the Turkic Council, the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, expressed that He supported the enhancement and enlargement of the Turkic Council founded with the aim of deepening the cooperation among the Turkic States, and that this will have a positive repercussions on the position of the Turkic States in the international arena.
The President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, also noted that setting the scene for the cooperation of other States comprising Turkic population within their borders with the Turkic Council would be beneficial not only for the activities of the Council but also for interests of the Turkic peoples.
At the end of the meeting the Secretary General Hasanov has presented to the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the flag of the Turkic Council, which represents the flags of the Member States.
Finally, the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, wished success to Ambassador Ramil Hasanov, the Secretary General of the Turkic Council, and to the personnel of the Secretariat in their future undertakings.
