Congratulatory Message of the Turkic Council Secretary General on the occasion of 15 June - National Salvation Day of the Azerbaijani People;
June 15 is one of the most remarkable days in the history of Azerbaijan’s statehood. The day celebrates the National Salvation Day -- the beginning of a new and invaluable stage in the history of independent Azerbaijan, marking the historical return of the national leader Heydar Aliyev from the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to capital Baku in 1993.
Two years after its independence in 1991, chaos was spreading in all spheres of social life, and the situation was hard for the armed forces as well as for everyone in the country.
The Republic of Azerbaijan has been liberated from the internal threats and great difficulties faced in the first years of its independence thanks to the solid statehood of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the wartime wisdom and control of the domestic chaos and social cohesion.
The process of continuing to maintain stability within the country with the bold and balanced policies of the Distinguished Leader has been transformed into comprehensive work in political, economic, social and cultural fields in the direction of access to development and refunctions since this date.
Having gone through many ordeals, Azerbaijan is today a flourishing country involved in many major global projects and with an independent foreign and interior policy.
On the occasion of 15 June - National Salvation Day, I convey my heartfelt congratulations to the Azerbaijani people and commemorate with deep respect Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Baghdad Amreyev
Secretary General of the Turkic Council
