The conference, entitled "Towards 2023: National Values, Global Goals", started with the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and the participating ambassadors to the martyrs` cemetery of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 
After the visit, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu made an opening speech. In his speech, Minister Çavuşoğlu commemorated the members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who had died in 2016. He also emphasized the importance of adhering to the constructive, result-oriented politics and politics based on permanent solutions. He underlined the need for the ambassadors to work in a sensitive and self-sacrificing manner in the countries of their duty as well.
 
Further, he assessed the need to continue struggling with austerity against the initiators of the 15 July coup attempt. In the course of the speech, the foreign minister touched upon Turkey’s political relations and the country’s efforts to resolve crises in the region.
 
Following the opening ceremony, President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received the conference guests at the Presidency Complex.
 
The next part of the conference continued with the internal session chaired by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ümit Yalçın.
