Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Abzal Saparbekuly attended meeting dedicated to the presentation of the multivolume work on the `Endangered Turkic Languages`.
Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Abzal Saparbekuly delivered a speech in the meeting co-organized by the International Turkic Academy and Akhmet Yassawi University on 7 February 2016 in Astana at the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In his speech, Deputy Secretary General Saparbekuly praised the work of the Academy noting organization’s endeavors on making common history, geography and literature textbooks.
The meeting, moderated by President of International Turkic Academy Prof. Darkhan Kydyrali and Chairman of the Board of the Akhmet Yassawi University Prof. Musa Yildiz, was dedicated to the presentation of the multivolume work on the “Endangered Turkic Languages”. The work was published with the support of the International Turkic Academy and Akhmet Yassawi University on the eve of the UNESCO declared "International Mother Language Day" which is celebrated each year on 21 February. The project comprising 132 research works of 130 scientists from 26 countries was supervised by Prof. Suer Eker from Başkent University, Ankara. Articles included in the book were written in English, Kazakh, Turkish, Russian, Uzbek and other Turkic languages.
In the continuation of the meeting, the International Turkic Academy presented a documentary film on the "Aral Sea: Past, Present and Future” telling about the Aral Sea problem, whose outcomes are felt not only in the region but in the whole world.
The third and last part of the meeting was concerned with the final results of the second international expedition themed "From Tanirtau to Otuken: Historical and Cultural Treasures of Nomads of the Great Steppe". The three-month excavation headed by the International Turkic Academy was the first archaeological project held in "Şiveet-ulan" complex of Otuken region.
High-level state officials, representatives of international organizations, heads of diplomatic corps located in Astana, well-known Turkologists, prominent scientists, writers, journalists and experts in the field attended the said event.
