The Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Dr. Ömer Kocaman participated in the Nevruz Feast celebration programme and the official opening ceremony of Kastamonu as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World in 2018 on 21 March 2018.
The "Nevruz Feast", the common cultural heritage of the Turkic people, was celebrated on 21 March 2018 in Kastamonu, which was declared the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World in 2018 by TURKSOY. Within the programme various events were organized in collaboration with TÜRKSOY, Kastamonu Governorship and Kastamonu Municipality.
The programme, which started with the burning of Nevruz Fire with the wide participation of the people in the Kastamonu square, continued with the traditions of the Turkic culture, "Iron Forging Ceremony", "Fire Flight", "Semen Presentation", Alaslama (Traditional Prayer Ceremony).
The Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş delivered a speech during the event, indicating the importance of Nevruz for unity and solidarity in our common heritage. The official and the military protocol and the citizens also participated in celebrations.
Following the speeches, Minister Numan Kurtulmuş, Kastamonu Governor Yasar Karadeniz, Çankırı Governor Hamdi Bilge Aktas, AK Party Kastamonu Deputies Metin Çelik and Murat Demir, Kastamonu Mayor Tahsin Babaş, TÜRKSOY Secretary General Kaseinov and members of the protocol burned Nevruz fire.
Within the framework of the Nevruz events, the official opening ceremony of Kastamonu as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World in 2018 was held in the evening of 21 March 2018.
The ceremony was held with the participation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey Binali Yıldırım, Minister of Culture and Tourism Numan Kurtulmuş, Kastamonu Governor Yaşar Karadeniz, TÜRKSOY Secretary General Düsen Kaseinov official representatives, protocol members and guests from the Turkic world. After the protocol speeches, show of artists and musicians coming together from various parts of the Turkic World , music and dance performances were staged. The opening ceremony was broadcasted live by TRT.
Deputy Secretary General Kocaman held various bilateral contacts with the high level guests of the programme.
