A welcoming ceremony of the first freight train organized from Türkiye to Uzbekistan was held on 3 December 2022 in Tashkent.

The freight train with 40 wagons loaded with household appliances was launched as part of the implementation of decisions taken at the First Meeting of the Heads of Railway Administrations of the Organization of Turkic States convened on 27 October 2022 in Tashkent.

During the Samarkand Summit of the OTS held on 11 November 2022, the Heads of State encouraged the close cooperation among the Member States on the further development of the transit potential of railways, digitalization of transport operations and enhancement of network among the Railway Administrations.

In this regard, the above-referred efforts being taken among the Railway Administrations within the Chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the OTS, will contribute to effectively using the existing transport and communication networks and infrastructure in the Turkic region, as well as significantly reducing the time and costs of transport in the direction of the world and regional markets.
