First Meeting of the Turkic Council Ministers in charge of Information and Communication Technologies was held in Baku.
First Meeting of the Ministers in charge of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) of the Turkic Council was hosted by the Minister of Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ramin Guluzade on the margins of “Bakutel International Exhibition on Telecommunications and Information Technologies”on 29 November 2016 in Baku.
 
Prior to the meeting, Minister Guluzade hosted a luncheon in honor of the Ministers participating both in the 22. Bakutel International Exhibition and the First Meeting of the Turkic Council Ministers in charge of Information and Communication Technologies. 
 
Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications of the Republic of Turkey Ahmet Arslan, Chairman of the State Committee for Information Technology and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic   Bakyt Sharshembiev and Vice Minister of Information and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alan Azhibayev attended the meeting, which was moderated by the Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ambassador Ramil Hasanov. 
 
Noting the significance of ICT by giving examples and providing some statistical data, Secretary General Hasanov in his speech called on the need for speedy initiation and strengthening of cooperation in this field. He informed that all stakeholders including the private sector and civil society organizations should be engaged in the respective projects taking into account the proportional effect ICT has on other areas such as development, poverty eradication, education and health. Secretary General also underlined that the Turkic Council would serve an excellent platform for the realization of short and long term goals of the Member States in the field of ICT. 
 
In the course of the meeting the ministers discussed various issues related to cooperation and collaboration in ICT sphere, as well as the establishment of 4 subgroups namely, cyber security, e-government, development of TASIM project and fiber infrastructure and satellite services.
 
The ministers also adopted the Rules of Procedures of the Working Group on ICT and the Agreed Minutes of the First Meeting of the Ministers in charge of ICT. The Minutes of the Meeting is signed by the Secretary General Hasanov.
 
The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Azerpost LLC and the Turkish Post (PTT) was held in the presence of the ministers. 
The next ministerial meeting is going to take place in Turkey in 2017. 
 
Minister of Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ramin Guluzade will host a dinner in honor of the Ministers of the Turkic Council Member States.
 
Deputy Secretary General Omer Kocaman, Project Directors Farid Damirli, Ali Çiviler, Yedil Myrzakhanov, Zhyldyz Uzakova, Research Expert Dastan Almen and Chief of Protocol Emre Yurdakul participated in the said Meeting.
