Geographical Council of Turkic States was established to foster people-to-people cooperation

The First Meeting of Heads of Geographical Societies of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan and Hungary was held on 8 May 2023 in Tashkent. 

During the meeting, an agreement was signed to establish the Geographical Council of Turkic States, a mechanism that aims to enhance people-to-people cooperation and networks among NGOs in line with the "Turkic Vision - 2040" goals. 

The newly established council will serve as an important platform to deepen people-to-people contacts, exchange knowledge and experiences in the fields of science, education, and innovations, and foster tourism cooperation by promoting the rich natural and cultural heritage of Turkic geography. 

At the meeting, Parties elected Mr. Oybek Norinbaev, the Chairman of the Geographical Society of Uzbekistan, as the Chairman of the Geographical Council of Turkic States, discussed and agreed upon a comprehensive plan of activities for the Council in the coming period.
