Leaders of the Turkic Council held an Extraordinary Summit on 10 April 2020 on Corona Virus Pandemic 
The Heads of State of the Turkic Council held an Extraordinary Summit on 10 April 2020 through video-conference on the theme of “Solidarity and Cooperation in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic”.  
The Summit was initiated by the current Chairman-in-Office of the Turkic Council H.E. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and was attended by H.E. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Sooronbai Zheenbekov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Turkey, H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of Turkmenistan, H.E. Viktor Orban, Prime Minister of Hungary and H.E. Mr. Baghdad Amreyev, Secretary General of the Turkic Council.
Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also participated at the video conference.
At the Summit, the leaders emphasized their determination for the implementation and expansion of cooperation within the framework of the Turkic Council in the fight against the pandemic and for overcoming its consequences on the basis of the strong will that will further strengthen the solidarity among the Turkic Speaking peoples.
They underlined that the saving of the lives of millions of people, as well as social, economic, moral and psychological condition of future generations require all states to perform a sincere and transparent global solidarity and joint actions.

In this respect, they emphasized the necessity for the Ministers of Health of the Member States to hold an video-conference and initiate multilateral cooperation mechanism where they can exchange information and experience on their national pandemic action plans; enable their healthcare professionals to discuss, share clinical cases, expertise and treatment methods. They called upon making assessment on the need for further supply of essential laboratory equipment and life supporting medical equipment, as well as sharing best practices, assisting each other on substantive subjects regarding the pandemic.  
They reaffirmed the importance of taking necessary measures to ensure the sustainability of trade, economic relations and transport among the Member States during the pandemic, including through facilitated passage of the freight vehicles on the borders and exchange of information on emerging problems in this field.
For that matter, the leaders made special references in their speeches to the facilitation of transport operations across the Trans-Caspian East-West International Transport Corridor to address the negative effects of the global pandemic on the economies of the regional countries, and tasked the Ministries of Commerce and Transport of the Parties to conduct video-conferences to discuss and come up with practical solutions that will ensure free flow of goods among the Turkic Council countries across the Trans-Caspian Corridor.  
Ensuring food security and unhindered passage of essential goods among the Member States was regarded by the Presidents as one of the most pressing issues to be tackled in the fight against the global pandemic and in the post-pandemic period. 
They also touched upon the importance of providing support and assistance to the citizens who remained in the territories of the Member States and could not cross the border due to the travel restrictions as a result of the pandemic, including upon the visa facilitation without any sanction.
Expressing their readiness to cooperate with the international community, the leaders supported all efforts and mechanisms within the United Nations which are directed at addressing the globally harsh consequences of the pandemic, highlighted the role of the World Health Organization in increasing the effectiveness of the fight against the pandemic, coordinating and strengthening the international efforts in this direction.
The Presidents tasked the  Secretary General of the Turkic Council for the materialization and coordination of the issues touched upon at the Summit. 
The Heads of State adopted the Joint Declaration of the Summit.
