Secretary General and Regional Director emphasized with satisfaction their growing strong partnership relations and commitment in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic as well as in implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the two organizations on 11 September 2020 and the European Program of Work for 2020–2025.
They underlined that the visit of the Secretary General to Copenhagen on 30 Nobember-1 December 2020 was very instrumental in preparing a draft Action Plan for the implementation of the MOU. The Parties agreed to finalize the draft Action Plan for the implementation of the MOU by the end of this year and to start putting it into practice at the beginning of the 2021.
Regional Director Dr. Hans Kluge briefed the Secretary General on recent developments in the production of COVID-19 vaccines and the launch of a worldwide vaccination promotion campaign. In this regard, they underlined the importance of ensuring the safety, effectivenes and availability of these vaccines and equitable access to them to protect people all around the world.
The Parties also exchanged views on Turkic Council’s leading role in bringing together other sub-regional organizations for implementation of the European Program of Work for 2020–2025.
