On 18 October 1991 the Grand Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan unanimously approved and adopted the constitutional act "On the State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan". A few months later, the act of independence was affirmed by a nationwide referendum and the people of Azerbaijan voted for the independence of Azerbaijan.
At this very important day where we celebrate the 26th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on behalf of the Turkic Council and on my own, I would like to convey my heartfelt congratulations to the mighty people of Azerbaijan and taking this opportunity, I would like to wish a bright future with unity, solidarity and peace to the Republic of Azerbaijan and to the whole Turkic World.
