Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary visited the Secretariat of the Turkic Council
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, H.E. Peter Szijjártó visited the Secretariat of the Turkic Council in Istanbul on 26 July 2021 and had a bilateral meeting with Secretary General Baghdad Amreyev.
Welcoming the Minister, Secretary General Amreyev expressed his appreciation for the visit and briefed him on the latest activities of the Turkic Council as well as developments within the Turkic World. 
Underlining the special place of Hungary for the Turkic World as the integral part of the Turkic Council, Secretary General stated that European Office of the organization in Budapest, which was started to operate in September 2019 is becoming a new and attractive center for boosting multifaceted cooperation among the Member States; conducting also active work to increase relations of the Secretariat with Visegrad Group, European countries and international regional organizations in Europe.
Parties discussed the current undertakings of the Organization for the preparations of the 8th Summit of the Turkic Council to be held on 12 November 2021 in Istanbul and main issues of the Summit’s agenda.
Secretary General Amreyev noted that agenda of the Istanbul Summit will be very intensive and it will mark the transition to a higher level of cooperation within the organization and strong transformation of the relations in the Turkic World.
Minister Szijjártó underlined the significant achievements of the Turkic Council during the last couple of years and stressed that Hungary will continue its full support to the Secretariat’s efforts to further develop their relations within the Organization. 
B. Amreyev and P. Szijjártó underlined the significance of B2B Forum of the Turkic Chambers of Commerce and Industry that will be held in Budapest in 22-23 September 2021. 
Reiterating the desire of Hungary to participate to the Turkic Investment Fund to establish the financial background for various development projects and other initiatives under the umbrella of the Turkic Council, Minister Szijjártó expressed that the success story of the Turkic Council has encouraged the third countries to establish formal ties with the Secretariat and Hungary and deepen their relations with the Turkic World.
Minister further raised the idea of establishing Turkic Council Drought Prevention Institute with the aim to identify and implement agriculture and environment related projects.
Peter Szijjártó referred to the increasing demand of the students from the Member States to study in Hungary and stated that more than 5000 applications from the Turkic Speaking Countries were received for this year. 
Secretary General and Foreign Minister also exchanged views on various regional and international issues.
Following the meeting, Secretary General Amreyev and Minister Szijjártó organized a joint press conference and informed the press members regarding the outcomes of the meeting as well as prospective plans and projects in the upcoming period in the framework of the Turkic Council.
After the program at the Secretariat, Secretary General and Minister attended to the exhibition organized by the Consulate General of Hungary in Istanbul and Mr. Adnan Polat who is a prominent business and sports personality dedicated to the history of football relations between Turkey and Hungary.
