Multilateral Meeting of the Heads of Customs Authorities dedicated to the Project for simplifying transit customs procedure along the Trans-Caspian International “East-West” Middle Corridor using the "Single Window" principle (Data pipeline) was held on 14-15 March 2023 in Baku.

The meeting was attended by delegations from the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), World Customs Organization (WCO), UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), International Road Transport Union (IRU), Asian Development Bank (ADB) and TRACECA, as well as heads and representatives of the Customs Authorities of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Georgia.

The meeting participants engaged in detailed discussions regarding Azerbaijan's proposal to establish an information exchange mechanism using "Single Window" among the customs services of Middle Corridor countries. They emphasized that the portal would streamline customs procedures and significantly enhance trade in the region.

During his statement, Deputy Secretary General Dr. Mirvokhid Azimov expressed the support for Azerbaijan's initiative, which aligns with the objectives of the Samarkand Declaration and Transport Connectivity Program signed at the OTS Samarkand Summit on 11 November 2022. He underlined that the project would facilitate transit procedures, increase the attractiveness of the Middle Corridor and foster interregional trade and transport connectivity.

Deputy Secretary General also briefed the attendees on the activities carried out within the OTS to enhance customs and transport cooperation through various mechanisms, including efforts towards digitalization of transport and transit procedures.
