Naziya Joyamergen, President of Kazakhstan based Turkic Speaking Fund of Journalists and Assemgul Zhumagulova, President of Astana Office of the same institution visited Abzal Saparbekuly, Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council on 14 May 2015.
The issue of increasing cooperation among the journalists and members of the press of Turkic World was discussed during the meeting.
Deputy Secretary General Saparbekuly gave brief information about the establishment, goals and the activities of the Turkic Council. Concerning the theme of the meeting, Mr. Saparbekuly referred to the 4th Summit of the Turkic Council where President of the Republic of Kazakhstan H.E. Nursultan Nazarbayev proposed to include to the agenda of the Turkic Council, media cooperation and establishment of common television channel.
Since then a working group was formed to work on this issue under the Turkic Council umbrella and a report prepared by this working group will be submitted to the Presidents during the upcoming fifth Summit in September 2015.
During the meeting parties have agreed on concrete steps to be taken together to increase cooperation among the media of the Turkic World.
