Organization of Turkic States held virtual workshop on implementation of e-CMR
The Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in cooperation with International Road Transport Union (IRU) and United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) held a virtual workshop on the implementation of the UN CMR Convention and its e-CMR Protocol in the OTS region on 2 February 2023.

The workshop aimed to provide participants with an understanding of the e-CMR Protocol and the benefits and challenges of its implementation in the OTS region. The workshop was attended by over 50 participants from international organizations, transport ministries, customs authorities, and national road transport associations of the OTS member and observer countries as well as the private sector.

During his welcoming speech, Deputy Secretary General Mirvokhid Azimov emphasized the great importance attached by the Heads of State of the OTS member countries to the development of transport cooperation with a focus on the digitalization of transport procedures, including through the introduction by the interested Parties of the e-Permit and e-TIR systems and the intensification of work in the direction of e-CMR.

Featured by presentations on the recent developments in the implementation of the e-CMR digital tool and updates from the road transport industry perspective, the workshop enabled the participants to exchange information and best practices and share their views on the benefits and challenges in this field. Parties highlighted that by eliminating paperwork, e-CMR solutions lower handling costs, eliminate administrative and invoicing delays, and reduce discrepancies at delivery sites.
