The OTS Deputy Secretary General Dr. Mirvokhid Azimov conducted an online meeting with Ms. Tatiana Rey-Bellet, Director of TIR & Transit Services, International Road Transport Union (IRU), and Mr. Vakhtang Zarandia, Senior Adviser, TIR & Transit Services, IRU on January 16, 2024. 

Expressing satisfaction with the progress achieved in their collaborative efforts in the region during the past period, the parties discussed further avenues for cooperation and identified joint activities aimed at streamlining administrative procedures and ensuring efficient and secure road transport operations in the region. 

The Parties highly commended the Member States' efforts in promoting global tools to simplify transport and transit procedures. It was emphasized that by the end of 2023, Uzbekistan had become the first country among 78 nations in terms of the number of TIR Carnets issued, with Türkiye and Kazakhstan being among the TOP-5 countries in this regard.
