OTS delegation participated in the Launch of the ESCAP-UNECE Programme on Energy Connectivity in Central Asia and the Caucasus

The delegation of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) participated in the Launch of the ESCAP-UNECE Programme on Energy Connectivity in Central Asia and the Caucasus.

Dr. Ömer Kocaman, Deputy Secretary General of the OTS, addressed the participants at the launch event held on January 24, 2024, in Geneva. During his remarks, Deputy Secretary General Kocaman provided an overview of the Organization's energy cooperation activities, emphasizing the growing role of the OTS in the region.

He expressed the OTS's readiness to collaborate in the energy sector with UN ESCAP, UNECE, and other international partners to achieve energy connectivity in Central Asia and the Caucasus, including Türkiye.

On the sidelines of the Programme, the OTS delegation hold a technical meeting with the Sustainable Energy Division of the UNECE. During the meeting, Dr. Ömer Kocaman highlighted the importance of energy connectivity, as well as expressed eagerness for joint activities in the fields of sustainable energy, trade and transport in 2024 through tangible projects such as eTIR and eCMR. Mr. Dario Liguti, underlined that the UNECE is interested in contributing in the development of the energy connectivity in the Turkic region, as well as establishing strong cooperation with OTS. The Parties expressed their readiness to coordinate their collaborative efforts through an annual Action Plan to be adopted in the upcoming period.
