OTS International Observation Mission monitored the Constitutional Referendum in Uzbekistan
Upon invitation of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, International Referendum Observation Mission of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) headed by Deputy Secretary General Dr. Ömer Kocaman has monitored the Nationwide Referendum on Amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Constitutional Referendum) on 28-30 April 2023 in Tashkent. 
The delegations of International Referendum Observation Mission comprised of the officials of the OTS Secretariat and the Central Election Commission (CEC) representatives of the OTS Member States, other than Uzbekistan. 
As part of the observation of the pre-referendum process, the Mission held a meeting with H.E. Zayniddin Nizamkhodjaev, Chairperson of the CEC of the Republic of Uzbekistan. During the meeting, comprehensive information pertaining to the preparations for the Constitutional Referendum was disseminated to the Mission's members, and they were familiarized with the primary agenda for the preparation and execution of the Referendum.
At the Referendum Day on 30 April 2023, the Mission has conducted the observation of the voting procedures in 29 polling stations in Tashkent city and presented the assessment of the Mission on the elections with national, international and public media outlets at a press conference. 
As known, more than 200 amendments and additions to 64 Articles of the country’s constitution was proposed. On the proposed amendments, a nationwide discussion took place, more than 220,000 proposals were received from the people, which is very necessary for the further progress of the country and the people.
