OTS Secretary General addressed the opening of “Shusha Days in Bursa” Program
The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev attended and addressed the opening ceremony  of  ”Shusha Days in Bursa and Handover from Bursa to Shusha” Program co-organized by the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation on 8 December 2022.
The Mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mr. Alinur Aktaş, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan to Shusha Mr. Aydın Kerimov, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Ms. Günay Efendiyeva, Secretary General of TURKSOY Mr. Sultan Raev, Governor of Bursa Mr. Yakup Canbolat were the keynote speakers of the opening ceremony.
This event is organized for the first time with the initiative of the President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Ms. Günay Efendiyeva, aiming to ensure the continuity of the process by establishing the handover of the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World as a customary practice, thus strengthening the bonds and relations between the Capitals of Culture.
Addressing the audience the Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev referred to the declaration of the OTS Leaders' Summit held in Samarkand last month and reiterated the support of the OTS to this initiative and conveyed his thanks to all parties who contributed to its success.
Praising Bursa, which has accomplished very successful work throughout 2022 as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World, the Secretary General emphasized that the announcement of Shusha as 2023 Cultural Capital will contribute to the solidarity of the entire Turkic World as well as to the efforts to further expand the cooperation and interaction between the Turkic peoples. He also indicated the readiness of the Organization of Turkic States to work together with TÜRKSOY and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, to carry out various activities and projects through 2023 in Shusha.
The program continues with a series of events including photo exhibitions, theaters, literature talks, etc. that will last two days. Closing and handover will be realized with a big show and ceremony on 9 December 2022.
