OTS Secretary General met with Executive Director of the UN Office at Vienna
As part of his official contacts in Vienna, the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev met with H.E. Ms. Ghada Fathi Waly Executive Director of the United Nations Office at Vienna and Director-General of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) on 3 April 2023.

Secretary General Omuraliev briefed his counterpart on the mandate and activities of the OTS, especially about the “Turkic World Vision-2040” and “OTS Strategy for 2022-2026” documents and expressed the readiness of the OTS to develop institutional relations with UNODC. 

UNODC Director-General Waly emphasized that UNODC’s mission is to contribute to global peace and security, human rights and development by making the world safer from drugs, crime, corruption and terrorism.  In this context, she further informed on UNODC Strategy for 2021-2025 to elevate support to the Member States to build just, inclusive and resilient societies that leave no one behind.

The Secretary General and the Director-General have agreed to work as partners on the principle of complementarity and organise joint meeting among the OTS Secretariat and UNODC’s Regional Offices in Tashkent and Istanbul to prepare joint programs and projects to be implemented in the Member States of the OTS.
