OTS Secretary General met with the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, met with the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, H.E. Bakhtiyor Saidov, on 23 January 2023 in Tashkent.

Acting Minister noted that Uzbekistan attaches high priority to the development and enhancing of relations within the OTS and emphasized the Member State’s commitment to strengthening solidarity and cementing multidimensional cooperation in the Turkic World in line with the Turkic World Vision and Strategy for 2022-2026.

Secretary General underlined that the active participation of Uzbekistan within the OTS gave a powerful impetus and dynamics to the activities and institutional development of the Organization and contributed to the strengthening of multisectoral interaction and diversification of its agenda.

Highlighting the role of Samarkand Summit, which was held in a completely new atmosphere and in a spirit consistent with the nature of the fraternal relations of the Turkic states, Parties underscored the importance of timely implementing the initiatives put forward by the Heads of State during the historical event.

Secretary General and Acting Minister exchanged views on the activities to be scheduled under the chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the OTS in political, trade, economic, investment, and cultural spheres, as well as transport, tourism, youth, and sports. They stressed the need for boosting the economic component of cooperation with a focus on targeting practically significant projects within the OTS.

Secretary General commended the preparation by the Uzbek side of the Roadmap and Action Plan comprising of over 30 activities to be held during the chairmanship of Uzbekistan and to that end expressed Secretariat’s readiness to joint all efforts for their realization.

Acting Minister extended his full support for the ongoing reforms within the Secretariat aimed at increasing its efficiency and effectiveness.
