H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), met with H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC) on 22 September 2023 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

At the meeting, Secretary General Omuraliev provided brief information regarding the OTS and ongoing projects under the umbrella of the organization. Secretary General underlined that OTS and African Union have many commonalities and based on mutual interest, establishing cooperation between the two organizations in different areas will make contribution to the welfare of the people of the both regions.

Ambassador Omuraliev further emphasized that Members of the both organizations have complementary economies and resources, by developing relations, OTS and AUC may tap this potential into concrete plans and projects.

Chairperson Mahamat expressed that AUC is the most conclusive organization in the continent with its 55 Members and they establish partnership with different states and regional/international organizations on mutual interest.

H.E. Mahamat stated that African Union has bilateral relations with the Members of the OTS and they see great potential in the region of the OTS. Chairperson further underlined that AUC is considering positively to establish and develop relations with the OTS in the upcoming period.

Parties agreed upon working on the prospective cooperation opportunities between two organizations in the upcoming period.
