OTS Secretary General met with the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan
H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), met with H.E. Aziz Voitov, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan on 26 September 2023 in Baku on the margins of the 2nd meeting of Ministers of Agriculture of the OTS. 
Secretary General Omuraliev commenced the substantive part of the meeting by providing a comprehensive overview of key developments. He began by summarizing the outcomes of the 3rd meeting of the Working Group on agricultural cooperation of the OTS, which had taken place a day prior, on 25th September 2023. 
Furthermore, Secretary General Omuraliev elaborated on the ongoing programs and projects within the agriculture sector. Notable among these initiatives were the OTS agreement on food security, underlining the organization's commitment to ensuring a stable and reliable food supply chain for its member states. He also touched upon the OTS's productive relations with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), emphasizing the shared objectives of enhancing food security and agricultural sustainability.
Another significant point raised by the Secretary General was the upcoming activities of the Drought Prevention Institute. He provided insights into the institute's future plans, highlighting its potential to mitigate the adverse effects of drought in the region through collaborative efforts.
Minister Aziz Voitov expressed Uzbekistan's profound commitment to the initiatives and objectives set forth by the OTS. He underlined the increasing role of the OTS in the region as a crucial platform for facilitating cooperative efforts among member states. The Minister reaffirmed Uzbekistan's dedication to actively participating in and contributing to the organization's endeavors in the agriculture sector.
Both Secretary General Omuraliev and Minister Voitov acknowledged the vast potential inherent in multilateral cooperation within the agriculture field. They underscored the need to expedite collective efforts in the upcoming period, with particular focus on enhancing food security within the OTS region.
