Panel titled “The Role of the Turkic Council in Deepening Cooperation among the Turkic Speaking Diaspora” held under the chairmanship of the Secretary General Ambassador Ramil Hasanov was convened on 5 October 2016 in Turkic Council Kyiv Regional Diaspora Center.
Ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkey to Kyiv, Ukraine MPs Maxim Kuryaçiy and Mustafa Cemilev, the representatives from Azerbaijan State Committee on Work with Diaspora, the representatives of the diaspora living in Ukraine and the representatives of the Turkic Council Diaspora Contact Group were among the honorable guests of the panel.
The meeting started with the opening statement of the Secretary General Ramil Hasanov who gave information about the Turkic Council and its activities, as well as the endeavors of the organization in the field of Diaspora carried out so far.
Underlining the importance that the Heads of State always attach to the strengthening of cooperation among the Turkic people, Secretary General touched upon the topics such as "No to Terrorism" demonstration held with the initiative of the Turkic Council Kyiv Regional Diaspora Center in 2015 in Kyiv with the purpose of supporting Turkey`s struggle against terrorism; the meeting with representatives of the Turkic Speaking Diaspora in 2015 in USA; raising the Turkic Council flag at the traditional “Flag Raising” ceremony at the Wall Street’s historic Bowling Green Park in New York City that marks the “Turkish Day Festival”; the Third Meeting of the Contact Group under the aegis of the Turkic Council convened on 3 May 2016 in Almaty and the decisions taken at the meeting; the preparation of the Action Plan of the Turkic Speaking Diasporas for 2016-2017; and the opening of Regional Diaspora Centers in Germany, France and the USA in the near future.
Secretary General Hasanov stated about the important steps to be taken by the diaspora in promoting the culture and values of the Turkic Speaking States and people, creating a positive image about the Turkic Diasporas, becoming more active in social and political terms, defending the interests of Turkic World in the third countries, neutralizing the propaganda campaigns made against Turkic World while delivering the real problems to the international public opinion.
After Secretary General Hasanov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Kyiv Azər Xudiyev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Kyiv Samat Ordabayev, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Kyiv Yönet Can Tezel, Executive Secretary of the Turkic Council Kyiv Regional Diaspora Center Hikmat Cavadov, President of the “Dostyk” Kazakh Cultural Center Dzhamil Ayazbayev, Representative of the Turkey Businessmen Association Ali Bulut, President of the Union of Industrialists and Businessmen of Turkey and Ukraine Zafer Özbey and other Diaspora representatives delivered their speeches stressing the importance of the coordination among diasporas.
The parties found it useful to hold a joint workshop with the aim to render a more effective organization of the diaspora taking into account the need of the Turkic Speaking Diaspora to adapt to the changing conditions in Ukraine and decided to implement the said workshop in the near future.
After the Panel held with the participation of nearly sixty participants а cocktail party was arranged at the Turkic Council Kyiv Regional Diaspora Center. Project Directors Zamin Aliyev and Ali Çiviler, and Chief of Protocol Emre Yurdakul accompanied the Secretary General Hasanov at the meeting.
