The Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ambassador Ramil Hasanov who is in Baku to hold official meetings was received by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev on 3 September 2015.
Secretary General Hasanov conveyed detailed information to the President on the preparations of the 5th Summit to be held on 11 September 2015 in Astana, the official documents due to be signed during the Summit, activities of the Turkic Council in the fields of transport, customs, tourism cooperation as well as ongoing works towards the establishment of Joint TV Channel.
Ambassador Hasanov also gave information about the developments regarding the related organizations of the Turkic Council namely Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and International Turkic Academy. He also informed the President on the current relations of the Turkic Council with the international organizations such as WTO, UNWCO and OSCE as well as conveyed information on “ITC for Development” Conference planned to be organized jointly by the Turkic Council and UNDP on 27-28 October 2015 in Istanbul. Secretary General continued giving information about the activities of the Turkic Council regarding obtaining Observer Status at the UN General Assembly and about the Reception given by the Secretary General himself to the UN Permanent Representatives from the Turkic Council Member States at the UN premises in New York.
President Aliyev expressed his contentment from the work of the Turkic Council and stated that the Turkic Council carried out successful activities within a short period of time and has taken concrete steps such as the completion of the establishment of International Turkic Academy and Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation as well as the establishment of Joint TV Channel. President Aliyev also underlined the importance given by the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Turkic Council and its activities, stating that Azerbaijan will continue to provide every support and assistance to the Organization.
At the end of the Meeting, Secretary General Hasanov presented a gift to President Aliyev containing “Joint Modern Silk Road Tour Package” and the promotion film prepared on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the Turkic Council.
