PRESS RELEASE REGARDING THE EFFORTS OF THE TURKIC COUNCIL TO METERIALIZE THE MODERN SILK ROAD JOINT TOUR PACKAGE
The Turkic Council continues its cooperation among the Member States Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey and in the region in the tourism sector, one of its cooperation areas. The work to turn the historical Silk Road into an attractive and preferred tourism destination gained momentum in accordance with the instructions of the Heads of State of the Member States given at the Fourth Summit of the Turkic Council which took place on 5 June 2015 in Bodrum under the theme of Tourism cooperation. In this context, the working group consisting of representatives of the private sector and public institutions completed the work on determining the destination of the Turkic Council – Modern Silk Road Joint Tour Package. The working group also continues the preparation regarding the accommodation and flight details. The work accomplished was approved by the Ministers at the Second Meeting of the Tourism Ministers of the Turkic Council held on 20 May 2015 in Baku. In this regard, the promotional brochure related to the preliminary studies on the Joint Tour Package prepared by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, as well as the promotional video prepared by the TRT AVAZ with contributions from the Member States were presented to the Heads of State at the Fifth Summit held on 11 September 2015 in Astana.

At the Fifth Summit, the Heads of State welcomed the efforts regarding the Joint Tour Package which will become first of its kind and raise awareness of the historical values, natural beauty and cultural richness of the Member States. They gave instructions to the relevant authorities of the Member States for the implementation of the said project within the shortest time. In the next stage, it is planned to complete the work on the Joint Tour Package in cooperation with the private sector and present it at the International Tourism Fair to be held in January 2016 in Madrid.

On the other hand, on the sidelines of the G-20 under the current chairmanship of Turkey, the Secretariat of the Turkic Council is going to participate in the Meeting of the Tourism Ministers-20 to take place on 29-30 September 2015 in Antalya and give information to the participants about the ongoing activities of the Council in the field of tourism.
