Project Directors of the Turkic Council Pelin Musabay Baki, Yedil Mirzakhanov and Farid Damirli had a bilateral meeting with Ahmad Alhendawi, UN Secretary General`s Envoy on Youth on 23 September 2016 in New York at the UN Headquarter.

They informed him about the activities of the Turkic Council on youth affairs drawing attention to the fact that the topic of the upcoming Turkic Council Summit of Heads of States will be youth and sports. Furthermore, they took up the preparation process for the international conference that the Council will co-host with UN Alliance of Civilizations on 20-21 October 2016 with regard to the Role of Youth in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism that is a equally important topic for the UN and the Turkic Council agendas. On this occasion, they handed him his invitation to the said conference as a keynote speaker.

Mr. Alhendawi expressed satisfaction for learning about the intensive and dynamic activities of the Council on the youth issues and noted his Office`s readiness to further cooperate with the Council for empowerment of youth, in the region and beyond, that are the key players for shaping today`s and tomorrow`s global issues.
