Secretary General Akinci attended Davos Forum
Turkic Council Secretary General Halil Akinci, accompanied by Deputy Secretary General Gismat Gozalov, attended the World Economic Forum (Davos Forum) on “Strategic Dialogue on the Future of the South Caucasus and Central Asia” organized in Baku, Azerbaijan. The Forum was opened with a speech by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Other speakers of the Forum included Bakytzhan Sagintayev, First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Andrey Kostin, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Russian VTB Bank, Djoomart Otorbayev, First Vice-Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Taner Yildiz, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, and Klaus Schwab, Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum.  

The Turkic Council delegation also held meetings with Azerbaijani government officials. During the meeting with Prime Minister Artur Rasizade, Secretary General Akinci informed him of the preparations for the 3rd Turkic Council Summit, which will be held in Baku later this year, and presented him with the Turkic Council flag.     

The delegation also met Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov, Chief of the Department of foreign relations of the Presidential Administration Novruz Mammadov. At the meeting with Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev, parties discussed preparations for the 3rd Meeting of Economy Ministers as well as the 1st Export Goods Exhibition and Forum, which will be held in June this year.   

On April 11, 2013, Turkic Council delegation participated in the 1st Turkic Council Security Consultation Meeting hosted by Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov at Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy.
