The Plenary Session started by welcoming address of H.E. Mr. Dastanbek Djumabekov, TurkPA Chairman-in-Office, Toraga of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic and followed with speeches delivered by H.E. Mr. Ogtay Asadov, Chairman of the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ms. Gulmira Istaybekovna, Deputy Chairman of Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and H.E. Mr.Ismail Kahraman, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey.
Plenary Session then elected previous Deputy Secretary General Mr.AltynBek Mamaiusupov as the new Secretary General of TurkPA.
Secretary General Ambassador Hasanov in his speech, emphasized that the Turkic Council, as the umbrella organization for the cooperation mechanisms among the Turkic Speaking States, has centered its efforts to strengthen cooperation among its Member States with a view to contributing to the development of regional collaboration as well as intensifying interaction with regional and international actors.
In this regard he informed the Chairmen and participants about the major activities and projects of the Turkic Council and achievements since the last Plenary Session.
Secretary General Hasanov also welcomed the participation of Mr.Istvan Jakab, Deputy Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly as an observer and Mr. Nariman Umarov, Deputy Speaker Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan as a guest of the TurkPA.
Secretary General congratulated the Kyrgyz Chairmanship and Mr. AltynBek Mamaiusupov on his election and reaffirmed the readiness of the Turkic Council to cooperate with them in the upcoming term.
During and following the Plenary Session, the Secretary General had a series of bilateral meetings and talks with the representatives of other international organizations attending the Session.
The Secretary General was accompanied by Project Directors Jeyhun Shahverdiyev and Yıldız Uzakova and Deputy Director of the Protocol Araz Salmanov.
