Secretary General of the Organizatıon of Turkic States Baghdad Amreyev held a meeting with Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov on 25 March 2022 in Tashkent.
During the meeting, Parties exchanged views on the ongoing efforts of the Organization to ensure closer cooperation among the Member and Observer States in the sphere of digitalization, e-signature and e-government, emerging digital technologies and telecommunications, as well as the development of business process outsourcing (BPO) and knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) services.
Discussing the implementation of the instructions made by Heads of State at the Istanbul Summit held in November 2021 on the theme of “Green Technologies and Smart Cities in the Digital Age”, Secretary General Amreyev and Minister Shermatov paid particular attention to the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev on creating a permanent platform for experts and IT specialists to exchange experience and transfer innovations in the creation of "smart" cities.
Parties also had discussions on further joint activities with regard to organizing “Teknofest – Aviation, Space and Technology Festival” regularly in the Member States, convening meetings of Ministers in charge of IT, and involving IT-related leading companies in the international event “ICT Week Uzbekistan” scheduled to be held in Uzbekistan on 24-26 October 2022.
