Secretary General Halil Akinci and Project Director Assan Mazhitov attended the 12th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation which convened on 6-7 February in Cairo. The summit addressed a wide range of issues including the issue of Palestinian statehood, intervention in Mali, Syrian crisis, poverty in the Islamic world, and conflicts in Afghanistan and Somalia.
During the Summit, Secretary General Akinci hosted a working breakfast attended by Turkic Council Foreign Ministers. Secretary General, Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey, and Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan discussed a number of issues related to the cooperation within the framework of Turkic Council.
