Turkic Council's observer status was endorsed during the 12th ECO Summit Meeting held in Baku on 16 October 2012

 

On 13-16 October 2012 in Baku, the delegation of Turkic Council headed by Secretary-General Halil Akinci participated in the 12th Economic Cooperation Organization Summit and 20th Council of Ministers Meeting, which was preceded by Senior Officials Meeting. 

 

During those events, as a result of an active support shown by Member States of Turkic Council, observer status granted to the Turkic Council by ECO was endorsed.

 

Secretary-General of Turkic Council conveyed his gratitude to those who supported the endorsement of granting observer status and expressed readiness to promote and facilitate fruitful cooperation in areas of mutual interests, as well to strengthening cordial relations between two organizations.

Turkic Council, TURKSOY and Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan organized a Photo Exhibition during the 20th Meeting of Council of Ministers of Economic Cooperation Organization held on 15 October 2012, in Baku. 

 

The decision to organise this event was taken during the first Meeting of Ministries of Culture of the Member States of Turkic Council which was held on 3 August 2012, in Cholpon Ata, Republic of Kyrgyzstan.  

 

The Photo Exhibition was inaugurated by H.E. Ahmet Davutoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey; H.E. Elmar Mammadyarov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan; H.E. Amenkeldy Zhumabayev, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan; representatives from Kyrgyzstan and Ambassador Halil Akıncı, Secretary General of Turkic Council.  Following the inauguration, 70 photos reflecting the cultural and historical background of Turkic Council Member States, as well as their development in various fields during the past 20 years were demonstrated.
