The International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) declared 2011 in the whole Turkic World, the “Gabdulla Tuqay Year”, who is a famous Tatar poet, founder of the modern Tatar literature and the modern Tatar literary language. Within the framework of celebrations and series of events, the inauguration ceremony of the bust of Gabdulla Tuqay took place on 26 May 2011 in Ankara. Turkic Council Secretary General participated in the inauguration ceremony.

The Organization of Turkic States was established in 2009 as an intergovernmental organization. Its primary objective is to foster comprehensive cooperation among Turkic States.
