Turkic Council Secretary General Halil Akinci, accompanied by Project Director Abzal Saparbekuly, attended the 3rd Annual Turkic American Convention in Washington, D.C., organized by the Turkic American Alliance (TAA) and the Turkish Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists (TUSKON) on 12-13 March, 2013.
The closing gala of the Convention hosted more than 700 guests, including 49 Members of Congress, eight of them senators. Many politicians, academicians and businessmen from the US and the Turkic Republics were also present at the closing ceremony. Among the particpants were the Minority Leader of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, Ambassadors of the Turkic Republics, and many other government officials.
During the Convention, whose main theme was Energy. Trade. Development., Secretary General Akinci held meetings with a number of US Members of Congress and government officials. Turkic Council delegation also brought together Ambassadors of Turkic countries to the USA. At the meeting, parties discussed the activities of the Organization.
