Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev held bilateral meetings with the Ministers of Health of the OTS Member States on 16 August 2023 in Samarkand, within the framework of 3rd Meeting of Health Ministers.
The Secretary General met with Dr Amrillo Inoyatov, Minister of Health of Republic of Uzbekistan, Dr Teymur Musayev, Minister of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Dr Fahrettin Koca, Minister of Health of the Republic of Türkiye, Dr Azhar Giniyat, Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Dr Tilek Mamadaliev, Deputy Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The meeting was focused on discussion of concrete ways and mechanisms to enhance collaboration between OTS member countries in the field of healthcare and the role of the OTS Secretariat in this matter.
The Parties addressed the priorities and current challenges they facing in development of healthcare systems, including infrastructure (hospitals, clinics, laboratories and medical research centers), supply of medicines and medical equipment, and shared their views on necessity in deepen collaboration in health education and mutual recognition of diplomas, capacity building and training for healthcare professionals.
Discussions also covered ways to establish the “Turkic Pharmacopoeia” and common platform for organ transplant in all OTS region, as well as to promote and support public private partnership, medical research and innovation within OTS member states, which could include joint research projects, funding mechanisms, and creating a conducive environment for scientific advancements.
