Secretary General of OTS and heads of regional offices of UN agencies held a meeting

The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Amb. Kubanychbek Omuraliev held an online meeting with the Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia of the UN Development Coordination Office Ms. Gwi-Yeop Son as well as heads of regional offices of UN agencies on developing the interorganizational cooperation on 12 February 2024.

Following the presentation shared by Ambassador Omuraliev regarding the OTS’s priorities in cooperation with the universal organization, representatives of United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), UN Women, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), UN Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), International Labour Organization (ILO), International Organization for Migration (IOM), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and European Investment Bank (EIB) acknowledged the importance of this joint meeting as a valuable addition to the existing interorganizational cooperation. They expressed their collective endorsement for this new dialogue platform, recognizing its relevance and potential to enhance collaboration among the participating entities. 

During the meeting, all Parties expressed their readiness to strengthen cooperation with the OTS as an active regional partner. Additionally, each participant informed about priority areas within their respective fields of responsibility where they foresee potential collaboration with the OTS. This exchange of information highlighted the commitment of both the OTS and UN agencies to foster meaningful partnerships and work collaboratively in addressing shared objectives.
