Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States addressed the 48th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)
Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Baghdad Amreyev took part in the opening of the 48th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the OIC, which convened on the theme of “Partnering for Unity, Justice and Development” on 22-23 March 2022 in Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan and addressed the participants of the Session. 
A wide range of topics were addressed by the 48th Session including ongoing security challenges in the world, regional conflicts, the Palestinian issue, situation in Afghanistan and Jammu Kashmir, as well as combating Islamophobia, fight against terrorism and defamation of religions, the status of Muslim groups and communities in non-OIC countries.
More than 100 resolutions were approved during the two-day session. The session also coincided with the 75th-anniversary celebrations of Pakistan’s independence.
In his address, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Baghdad Amreyev underlined the great importance of the theme of the meeting taking into consideration of the myriad of concerns that confront the Muslim Ummah today ranging from security issues, economic instability and social inequalities to humanitarian crisis and environmental challenges. He stated that addressing these challenges could only be possible by building bridges of cooperation among like-minded countries.
Secretary General noted that the OTS has dedicated itself to strengthening peace and stability, promoting wide-ranging cooperation, and revealing the potential for joint development in the region. He highlighted that by promoting deeper relations and solidarity among Turkic countries, the OTS aims to serve as a new regional instrument for advancing international cooperation in Eurasian continent and in the Islamic world, particularly in Central Asia and Caucasus.
In this context, B. Amreyev said that the OTS would be a reliable partner of the Islamic countries and provide an additional dialogue platform for implementing decisions taken in the OIC in a certain geographic, geopolitical and civilization area.
Secretary General reiterated the determination of the OTS to deepen its existing cooperation with the Islamic world. With the spirit of furthering unity and solidarity, he stressed the necessity for the OIC to further institutional cooperation within the Islamic world, which would open a new chapter of collaboration particularly with the like-minded entities such as the OTS.
On the margins of the 48th OIC CFM Session, Secretary General Baghdad Amreyev had talks in Islamabad with Secretary General of the OIC Hissein Ibrahim Taha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbayev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Foreign Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt Sameh Shoukry and Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry of Oman for Diplomatic Affairs Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa Alharthy.
Secretary General was accompanied by Project Directors Ozge Pan and Yerzhan Mustafin.
