Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States met with UNECE Executive Secretary
H.E. Amb. Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), engaged in a productive meeting with H.E. Tatiana Molcean, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), on January 23, 2024, in Geneva.

The meeting focused on advancing the ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation between the OTS and UNECE. Discussions also delved into the successful 2023 UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) Economic Forum, held in Baku under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan. H.E. Tatiana Molcean emphasized the forum's focus on connectivity in the Middle Corridor between Europe and China, highlighting its potential to contribute to greener, circular, and inclusive economies in the region.

Secretary General Omuraliev briefed Executive Secretary Molcean on the program of the upcoming “Turkic Week in Geneva” and extended an invitation for her participation in the conference to be held by the OTS Secretariat focusing on sustainable energy, trade and transport in the Turkic region. Executive Secretary expressed her readiness in this respect. 

Highlighting mutual interest in sustainable energy, Secretary General Omuraliev underscored the OTS's participation in the UNECE-UNESCAP Connectivity Program launch on January 24. He expressed eagerness for joint activities in the fields of sustainable energy, trade and investment as well as transport and customs in 2024 through tangible projects such as eTIR and eCMR. 

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to fostering regional cooperation and trade facilitation. Both parties anticipate result-oriented collaboration in the identified areas of mutual interest.
