The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Amb. Kubanychbek Omuraliev, participated in the workshop on "Unlocking the Potential of Digital Trade and Investment in Turkic Economies" held on December 25, 2023, in Ankara. The event was dedicated to the unveiling of the "Report on Turkic Economies 2023: Digital Trade and Investment," a collaborative effort of institutions within the Turkic Network of Official Economic Policy Research Centers (ERCNET). The publication of this first report by the ERCNET was coordinated jointly by the OTS and the Turkic Academy.
The primary objective of the workshop was to present the key findings and insights encapsulated in the 2023 report, fostering discussion on the opportunities and challenges associated with digital trade and investment in the Turkic region. The focus of the deliberations centered on leveraging digital technologies to augment economic growth, strengthen trade relations, and enhance regional investment prospects.
The workshop was inaugurated by the opening remarks of Prof. Dr. Shahin Mustafayev, President of the Turkic Academy, Mr. Mustafa Tuzcu, Deputy Minister of Trade of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the OTS, who underscored the paramount importance of digitalization in trade and investment promotion services for the Turkic economies.
A highlight of the workshop was a comprehensive presentation conducted by experts intimately involved in the development of the "Report on Turkic Economies 2023: Digital Trade and Investment." This presentation delved into the key findings, emerging trends, and insightful analyses contained within the report.
Secretary General Amb. Kubanychbek Omuraliev conveyed in his opening address condolences for the loss of 12 Turkish soldiers who were martyred during the counter-terrorism operations carried out on December 22-23, 2023. 
He then highlighted the significance of the recently established Turkic Network of Official Economic Policy Research Centers (ERCNET), aligning with long-term prosperity goals outlined in "Turkic World Vision-2040" and “OTS Strategy for 2022-2026.” Emphasizing the report's importance, he underscored its role in identifying trends, shaping policy, and guiding economic relations. The Secretary General stressed the strategic focus on digital connectivity and urged member states to prioritize the digital economy, anticipating the report's influence on the forthcoming "Partnership Agreement on Digital Economy." He thanked ERCNET and the Turkic Academy for their contributions, expressing hope that the report would stimulate dialogue among policymakers and stakeholders in the Turkic States.
