Secretary General of the OTS was received by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan
Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev was received by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E. Ilham Aliyev on 15 December 2022 in Baku.
President Aliyev welcomed and extended his congratulations to the Secretary General on the occasion of his recent appointment. Ambassador Omuraliev expressed his gratitude for warm welcome and entrusting him leading the Secretariat of the OTS.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on current developments of the OTS activities as well as its further vision and plans.
President Aliyev expressed his support for further strengthening of the Organization and enhancing its role in international arena. Moreover, referring to brotherly relations among the Member States of the OTS, he emphasized the importance of mutual trust and unity within the Turkic world.
Ambassador Omuraliev referred to the Turkic countries and peoples’ support as well as unity demonstrated during the 44-Day Patriotic War. He emphasized that the city of Shusha was declared as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World for 2023 and underlined the significance of the cultural events to be held in Shusha in the upcoming period.
President of Azerbaijan praised the intensification of bilateral and multilateral meetings and events among the Turkic states and proposed to hold, along with regular OTS Summits, informal summits on a regular basis in the historic and cultural cities of the Turkic world.
The parties also exchanged views on streamlining efforts in strengthening cooperation among the diasporas of Turkic peoples. In this regard, the importance of developing common ideology accompanied by political and economic cooperation based on common history, language and culture of Turkic countrieswas mentioned.
Besides, the parties pointed out the relevance of implementing concrete projects of regional importance under the umbrella of the OTS, including those related to energy issues, as well as transport and connectivity corridors linking Asia to Europe.
