Bilateral meeting between Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ambassador Ramil Hasanov and HE Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, UN High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations was held in New-York on 21 September 2016.

At the meeting both sides reiterated their satisfaction concerning to the ongoing cooperation between two organizations. Ambassador Hasanov informed High Representative Al-Nasser about the preparation process with regard to the international conference namely “the Role of Youth in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism: Holistic approaches, from education to de-radicalization” to be co-hosted by the Turkic Council and the UNOAC on 20-21 October 2016, in Istanbul to which approximately more than 200 young leaders and high level guests from about 40 are invited. High Representative Al-Nasser noted his appreciation for the measures taken by the Secretariat of the Turkic Council to materialize the said international conference, topic of which is equally important for the agendas of the UN and the Council.

Furthermore, both sides noted their readiness to sign a Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation between the two organizations, the preparation of which is successfully underway, within the framework of the abovementioned international event in Istanbul.

The Project Directors Pelin Musabay, Yedil Myrzakhanov, Farid Damirli as well as the Head of Protocol Emre Yurdakul accompanied the Secretary General Hasanov at the meeting.
