Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ambassador Ramil Hasanov who is paying an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan met with H.E. Elmar Mammadyarov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 22 August 2016 in his office.
During the meeting Secretary, General Hasanov presented comprehensive information particularly about preparations of the Sixth Summit of the Heads of States of the Turkic Council to be hosted by the Kyrgyz Republic in November 2016, certain matters of common interests to the member states, as well as the Second World Nomad Games to be held again in the Kyrgyz Republic in early September 2016 with the participation of representatives from 40 countries. Secretary General Hasanov also provided information about the Informal Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Turkic Council to be organized in the margins of the UN General Assembly in September 2016, issues such as legal procedures of the related institutions of the Turkic Council to be discussed during this meeting as well as the Youth Festival to be organized at the end of September 2016 in the city of Gence of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the participation non-member countries such as Georgia, Qatar and Hungary.
Finally, Secretary General Hasanov invited the Foreign Minister Mammadyarov to the international conference entitled “The Role of Youth in Countering Violent Extremism” to be organized jointly by the Turkic Council and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations between 20-21 October 2016 in Istanbul with the participation of high level international guests.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov expressed his gratitude for the visit of the Secretary General Hasanov and conveyed his thanks for the comprehensive information provided. Foreign Minister Mammadyarov mentioned that the existing support of Azerbaijan would continue for the completion of all procedures for the related institutions of the Turkic Council during the Informal Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Turkic Council which will be held in September, welcomed the organization of the Youth Festival in Gence and confirmed his participation to the international conference to be organized jointly by the Turkic Council and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations in October 2016. In this context, he said that they follow the successful work of the Turkic Council and as the Republic of Azerbaijan they will continue to support the Council in all its activities.
Foreign Minister Mammadyarov also expressed that, as already stated before, they have been against the failed coup attempt of 15 July 2016 perpetrated in the Republic of Turkey and strongly underlined that the Republic of Azerbaijan will always stand together with the Republic of Turkey and its people bilaterally, as well as with the other member countries.
