The meeting of the Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ambassador Ramil Hasanov with the Turkic speaking diaspora representatives based in the USA was held at the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey on 13 May 2015.
Ambassador Halit Cevik, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Turkey to United Nations, Ambassador Yasar Aliyev, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan to United Nations, Raushan Yesbulatova, Consul General of Republic of Kazakhstan in New York and Mr. Ertan Yalcin, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in New York participated at the said meeting and expressed their views regarding the importance of the diaspora issues. Representative of the Permanent Mission of the Kyrgyz Republic to United Nations was also present at the meeting.
As the main speaker of the meeting, Secretary General Hasanov, informed the diasporas about the activities of the Turkic Council not only on diasporal issues but as well as on all works of the Council in detail, with respect to the concept of this meeting especially about the Diaspora Regional Centres including the one already operating in Kiev, and other Centres planned to be open in Germany, France and the USA.
The meeting continued with the questions and answers of the attendees to the Secretary General. During the Q/A session, the Vice President of the Federation of Turkish-American Associations expressed his views and the importance they attach to Turkic Diaspora and announced the audience that, 2015 Turkish Day activities and the traditional Ball to be held on 15 May 2015 Friday evening, will be marked with the topic of Turkic World with respect to the Secretary General’s visit.
At the end, Secretary General Hasanov expressed his gratitude to the Consul General Yalçın for the hospitality of the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey and to the audience for their presence at the meeting.
Furthermore, Secretary General Ramil Hasanov gave an interview to TRT Turk channel after the meeting.
