Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ambassador Ramil Hasanov accompanied by the Project Director Farid Damirli visited ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia on 24 November 2015 and met with the Secretary General of ASEAN Li Luong Minh to discuss bilateral relations between the two organizations.

Ambassador Hasanov conveyed his thanks to the Secretary General of ASEAN for receiving him and provided detailed information about activities of the Turkic Council. He also proposed several areas of cooperation such as collaboration in ICT, organization of joint business forum and the conference on fighting terrorism that can be realized by both organizations. Moreover, for that purpose appointment of focal points from both sides will be essential in realization of the said projects. Finally he invited H.E. Minh to visit Turkic Council in Istanbul.

Secretary General of ASEAN thanked Ambassador Hasanov for coming to Jakarta and warmly welcomed the launching a new process of cooperation between the two organizations. He shortly briefed Ambassador Hasanov on the activities of ASEAN and agreed to further cooperate through the focal points. He also exchanged views on possible cooperation areas with Turkic Council.
