Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ambassador Ramil Hasanov paid a courtesy visit to Wilfried Lemke, Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations on Sport for Development and Peace on 21 September 2016 in New York at the UN Headquarters.

In the meeting, Ambassador Hasanov informed Special Adviser Lemke on the activities of the Turkic Council with regard to the sport issues. In this regard, mentioning that the topic of the Turkic Council Sixth Summit is `Youth and Sports` and accordingly the Council has been intensively working on these areas since 2015, he underlined the firm support that the Council provided for the realization of the Second World Nomadic Games in Kyrgyzstan on 3-8 September 2016. Furthermore, he also referred to the ongoing fruitful cooperation between the Council and the International Center for Sport Security . He also invited him to the international conference that the Council will co-host with the UN Alliance of Civilizations on the role of youth in countering violent extremism on 20-21 October 2016 in Istanbul.

Special Adviser Lemke expressed his appreciation to learn about the Turkic Council successful activities in the field of sport and their readiness to cooperate with the Council on the areas of mutual interests.

The Project Directors Pelin Musabay, Yedil Myrzakhanov, Farid Damirli as well as the Head of Protocol Emre Yurdakul accompanied the Secretary General Hasanov at the meeting.
